ThinkGeo's World Data is a standalone set of map data spanning the globe, featuring major road level detail of the world. Supplied in ShapeFile format on a single DVD, World Data gives GIS professionals a complete solution for building mapping applications anywhere in the world.
In this article, we will discuss how to install Map Suite World Data on your machine.
Install Map Suite World Data
It's very straightforward to install the World Data on the computer. Just follow the steps below.
1. Insert World Data DVD into computer.
2. If AutoRun is disabled, navigate to your DVD-ROM and view the DVD’s contents.
3. You will see four folders (one for each region of the world), a License Agreement, and a Naming Conventions guide.
4. The four folders contain the shapefile data and simply need to be copied to your hard drive.
5. Once copied to your hard drive you can utilize a shapefile viewer such as Map Suite Explorer to check out the data.
Note: spatial index files are included for each shape file.
